About Education For All
Very few girls from the rural communities that surround Imlil get the opportunity of continuing their education after primary school. The College at Asni, some 17km away, is not accessible to them for two main reasons:
- Their parents cannot afford to pay for lodgings at Asni.
- Their parents do not have the confidence in any of the facilities at Asni to entrust their daughters to be away from their rural communities.
We are building a girls boarding house at Asni, which will initially be designed to accommodate 24 girls - 8 from each of the 3 years covered by the College curriculum.
The building is estimated to cost about 80,000 euros of which nearly 24,000 have already been raised. To look after the girls, providing them with food, some clothing, school materials and a House Mother will cost about 1000 euros per year per student. So an annual operating budget of about 25,000 euros will also be needed.
For this first project at Asni, apart from a paid House Mother, there are no administrative expenses as everyone involved in realising this project is working on a voluntary basis so 100% of your donations (apart from justgiving’s charges) will go directly to the project.
